i am gonna backtrack and sum up friday/monday (4/20, 4/23) and make it short and sweet.  i had an e true hollywood story moment.  decided to "storm out dramatically" during our rehearsal because it wasnt going perfectly.  my sweet brothers equated it to girl problems and let me have my moment.  after pounding a coors light i returned to the studio and we continued the set.  id like to thank my brothers for dealing with my bullshit.
monday, we had quite a productive rehearsal.  in and out, ran the set a few times...i think were ready for the next show.
for the record, we were born ready.  what a cliche.  but its true.  also...the "bathroom problems" i had werent the kind you are thinking of.
also, honzo learned every song that he hadnt played on in like, 2 minutes because he is just a rockstar like that.

we made stan sweat shooting 4 or 5 dance videos. he wanted to choreograph it, but woody allen said NO!!!

then we shot the best video that will never be seen. thanx JT for breaking yet another rib or 2. and i know ur back is feeling the consequences of that back drop/flip u did hahaha

we all quit smoking too, so naturally we plowed through Honzo's bag of Tops!  i even had an electric cig on me that was unopened when i woke up

Friday Night:

Had a Few jam Sessions, and Chilled out for the most part. Couldn't Work on much cause there was so much people everywhere in and out. Mo Was knocked out Snoring Like a beast Haha. Can't say quite much cause i was behind drums most of the time. But sure was a kick ass night.

After Weeks and Weeks Of Trying to Finish 1 of the Tracks for Spingboard, I think We Might Have Actually Finished The Song. We Can Finally Start Rehearsing For our next show Which is on May 12th. I Think this EP Is Close to Following me to bed. After Relaxing From recording the new track We jammed a few times and Finally I say FINALLY The Curse has been lifted!!....We got every single thing recorded!

friday night lights 04-06-12

i should leave this page blank in respect to the fucking crazy ass night we had. but i wont. 

honzo was the 1st to show at 230pm friday, and stan was the last to leave at 1130am saturday.  not bad yall!

accomplishment: we wrote the title track to our 3rd album, "seriously...whats wrong", and this kid cant stop listening to it. Keep keep keep keep keep keep keep keep walking walking walking walking off that ledge.

i met jonnys alter ego, English Teacher, for the first time. He's mostly cool. 

hmmm...we got Stan the "Gym Teacher". 3 more alter egos and we change our band name to Teachers

vince tried filming some live jams, but ended up listening and head bouncing instead.

Mo found out how to see if 1 More Animal is in the studio. For our future fans...go on 24th st, just east of 6th ave. look north, and up 10 stories, and if the fire escape door is open, IT'S ON!!!! might have to change the studio name from "the bunker" to "the light house" just cause of that!

Funniest shit of the night  Mo barged in the studio Thursday night thinking that was still our studio night. he opened the door ready to get his animal on, and with a room full of strangers having a meeting looking at him, all he was able to mutter was "Con?"  lololol   Friday nights, Mo, friday nights!!! 

(there were about 20 funny shits tied for 2nd.

Mon. April 2nd Studio Night!

*looks off in the distance and claps*. The main point for our very fun studio night. Laughter is the best medicine and it consumed the premises of the studio. We laid down follow me to bed about 8-10 times on a very zoned out mode. We loved it everytime. Jammed out with Stan's friend Evan and talked about our potential shows and how once this EP is done the rehearsing for playing out will begin with a vengeance! The picture above is one of our fans, Lisandro, on a long bus ride to wherever he was going and listening to 1 More Animal. I love this photo. Laura PASSED OUT for probably the first time ever, and of course special guest star from Marv, who has broken the bro code indefinetley by not waking Laura up. Got some work done,  played out and Jammed some insane stuff that was lost forever into the music time continuim. Let's hope Vince doesn't owe Con any more favors! Another studio night recap

So, Thursday night was another studio night.

I got there pretty late, around 10:30pm. We didn't really do much. We listened to how Suz's, another sound engineer, work-in-progress mix of our EP sounded, and then jammed. After playing guitar and drums, I realized I was pretty tired and pretty much called it a night on a futon. I woke up around 8 am to find Con asleep on the couch in the studio and Jonny asleep on the couch in the waiting area.

So, I left and went to my gym. I did deadlifts.

What did we do on Monday, March 26?

Hello, people! Here's a quick recap of what happened last Monday.


The outtakes are pretty funny and include Jonny playing out-of-tune guitar, a glass of water getting knocked down as we get up, and other funny screw ups.

Aside making that little video, we worked a little more on Springboard, which is pretty close to being done, and jammed.

Marv came by later on, and he, Jonny and I played a song that Marv's been working on. The goal is to perform it live at one of Marv's Fire Your Boss shows.

Another studio night coming up. I'm going to try to get some deadlifts in before going there. By the way, if you need a personal trainer, let me know. I might know somebody. ;)

Monday, 3/19/12

Well after it took 3 days for me to learn how to operate a computer, here is the first blog from the lady of the band. 
It is now Thursday and as Con and Honzo enjoy an Arctic Monkeys/Black Keys show (love to Doc to pulling a Hail Mary), I will share my thoughts on the past session (and a half).
Monday, as Con and I dubiously counted our caloric intake of liquor, we tackled "Follow me" for what we thought would be the last time.  We got some nice takes on "the song that's never finished."  Also, remember that set we used to play live?  Yea, we decided it might be time to play the set again live.  It went well, and we succeeded in also running through the EP.  All in all, a productive evening.  As per usual, guest appearance from Marv. 
Today (Thursday) I walked my happy ass over the Williamsburg bridge, up Alphabet City, to the studio to listen to what we have so far.  Of course, we decided that perhaps we should try "Follow Me" yet another way and make "A Little in Love" a duet.  With 5 minutes remaining to get to the show, we recorded the vocals.  The boys are due back in about 2 hours, Stan the Man just got here, and for the love of (insert whatever/whomever you pray to here), lets finish these songs!

Worked on Some of the Vocals For Battle Songs and Growing up, we Pretty much just hung out for that night.
had a few jam sessions and Before jonny left he created the 1 more animal handshake haha.
Con and Honzo Worked on "little in love" before they left, and some instruments and vocals.
Also Some of the Songs got a Really nice mix from Pat.

Pretty much con and honzo left around 8 or so. still thought we would of been done with the
Spring board EP By now....Still Working.

So as much as I hate blogging, 1MA is gonna see where this takes us. Who knows, maybe it'll be fun reading them all back some day far away.  But for now, we are all gonna take turns "recapping" our studio nights, I guess starting with yours truly. 




Monday..MArch 12, 2012  "The Arctic Keys studio night"


Ya, missed the Black Keys/Arctic Monkeys show at the Garden. But to be honest, we had as good a time, if not better, jamming at the studio. (march 22nd, we'll be at their show)
We took the Thursday off before, so we were all eager to get in the studio. Which basically means, the booze flowed all night, and we had extra energy.  We left around 730 am. But nothing unusual about that.

our goal for the night, finish the "Springboard" EP. Mission failed. But what we did accomplish: jonny vocals on Growing Up: irritating Laura cause we made her wait too long to finish her vocals: recording a pretty tough sounding Stan guitar lick (more on that later):
learning the Jonny doesnt get close to taking in 2000 calories a day: also learning that Con was growing his bangs out: and deciding that Honzo is indecisive. 


We had an idea to write a Battle Song a week earlier, and using Stans guitar track, we got that started. And its pretty badass. I havent stopped listening to it. We're going to finish it up and put it on our "Seriously...whats wrong" full length album, coming out Mid 2012. 


We worked on that till about 6am, and then after some serious peer pressure, Con was convinced to jam for a while. Why not, the sun was already up, and were destined to go home while the morning rush went to work. Always a crazy trip.

Starting off the count with this straightedge, Kickyourass in a heartbeat but take care at the end of a phone call, STAN! - main drummer, amazing bass player, guitar and the diversity continues, 2nd on the lineup we have none other than the talented, beautiful, Ms, Laura McCarthy. Can you say classically trained with a huge slab of RAW FUCKING ATTITUDE. The voice speaks for itself. When you find yourself indulged and you can't get enough you'll know your listening to the amazing vocal styles of the In Your Face, melodically dreamy vocals that is Laura and is 1ma. 3rd on our Roster we have, Mr. Jonnykt. Main instrument lead guitar, this guy can make a guitar cry like never before, strongly zep,pearl jam,jimi hendrix, and floyd influenced, the bands youngest member and shows great promise. also undertakes the bass, drums and vocals are coming together smoothly. The next member of the band is the Founder! the whole reason to the backstory that IS  1 more animal. No other than Con. Con is the backbone of 1 more animal, plays any instrument needed in any song, produces, writes, pitches some of the most ingenious creative pitches you'd never think of hearing. With plenty of other bands under his belt and over 30 years of music productivity under his belt it's sure one hell of a roundup crew with this band. The last and final member of the band, Recently added is Honzo. The ambietic adds to the band have been replenished again and again by this tasteful 19 year olds creative juices. Known over a long relationship with other member Jonny kt, after a few jam sessions and overall fill advices on songs, 1 more animal could not deny the connection to there 5th member and it has been an ever joyous experience since then.
